Renovation of a sun room and garden - Carlisle
We are incredibly pleased with the work Cumbria Home Renovations have just done for us, transforming our back yard and outbuilding completely. We contacted Cumbria Home Renovations during the winter about converting our small outbuilding into a sun room and renovating our back yard, including a new shed, render of all walls, lighting and a new artificial turf area.
Simon came to see us within a day or two of contacting him - he turned up on time which was a good sign, and all the different contractors on the job continued to turn up on time every single day throughout the project. Simon understood exactly what was needed, and today as we look at the finished project it is if anything even better than I had hoped. Communication was handled by Clare and was absolutley brilliant - we had a quote which detailed exactly which work was covered at what cost. During the project a few items occurred - either suggested by us or by Simon - and we had quotes for exact products like external and internal lighting, render type and colour etc.
Everyone who worked on the project worked really hard - Grant pit in some 10 hour days on the walls - really friendly and always explaining what they were doing. The whole job has gone very smoothly from the beginning, and if it has taken a few more weeks more than we thought, its well worth it - and in comparison to the last firm we talked to, who took four moths just to give us a pencil sketch of the plan, Cumbria Home Renovations have been miraculous!

Cottage Renovation - Langholm
My Partner and I bought a remote cottage in Scotland and searched for a company offering a complete home renovation service. We found Cumbria Home Renovations and SJD Electrical through the federation of master builders website - we had arranged to meet three companies however after meeting Simon decided we did not need to speak to the other two companies. We live four hours away from the property so it was important we found someone we could trust and whose knowledge, understanding and high level of expertise would fit in with our dreams - this is exactly the service we received from Cumbria Home Renovations.
The quotations made sense to a non builder and every one of them came in cheaper than the top estimate given; when problems were found Simon was very communicative, sending photos and solution ideas by email on a regular basis. They have very good working relations with supply companies based around Carlisle and we benefited greatly from this.
After the work was finished Simon has worked with us to resolve all the snagging issues and nothing to too much fro him and his skilled team to achieve.
Overall it has been an incredible and stress free experience for us - we happily relied on Cumbria Home Renovations and SJD Electrical to take the worry out of the whole experience for us!!

Kitchen and Bathroom Renovation - Carlisle
Simon undertook the complete renovation of the kitchen and bathroom in my Victorian terraced house in Carlisle. This included stripping out existing kitchen and bathroom, stripping off the wood chip wallpaper, skimming the plaster, fitting new kitchen, rewiring where required, new flooring, new bathroom fitments and decorating.
Before the work started, Simon came and looked at what was necessary, going through what needed to be done. He then provided a draft quotation for the work so that I could be looked at to see if anything had been left out. When finalised, this was costed and sent out.
As part of the work, he recommended an independent kitchen supplier who provided a good plan at a cost not much different from one of the 'big' suppliers. Simon liaised with the supplier and me to sort out when the work could be done (Mid November to Mid December 2018). At all times there was clear communication either by e-mail or telephone, which was reassuring. When decisions were needed about items required, he provided a choice and useful advice.
The work was carried out by his team. They were all cheerful and polite and I was content to leave them in the house while I wasn't there. The work was done to a high standard. They all worked hard on the project, putting in long hours to make sure the timetable worked. They cleaned up after themselves and at the end Simon sent in cleaners to make sure that the house could be moved back into. There were a number of snags. However, these were small and once the list had been prepared they were sorted out quickly and efficiently.
All in all, I would definitley use Simon again and would not hesitate to recommend him and his team

Full House Renovation - Broughton Moor
I am pleased to provide this testimonial for Simon Dockeray and his company. They did an excellent job on totally renovating the interior and exterior of my property in Broughton Moor, Cumbria. It is a three storey, four bedroom, end of terrace house, with 18" thick stone exterior walls, which had been vacant for 17 years and suffered excessive damp damage, while I worked overseas.
They completely gutted and renewed the interior and renovated the exterior from June 2017 to May 2018. As I was still abroad, I successfully trusted Simon to manage the project for me, with the assistance of whatsapp messages, emails and my three site visits. Their work was very professional and of the highest quality to provide me with an essentially new home.
The work included:
Drying out the interior, removing and replacing all damaged roof timbers, felt, slates, gutters, floor joists, floorboards, plasterboard walls and ceilings.
Installation of completely new electrical and plumbing / gas central heating system.
Applying internal waterproof tanking and render; complete internal finishes including re-plastering, painting, new timber doors, (solid oak), frames and skirtings, kitchen floor and wall tiles, kitchen units and appliances, bathroom finishes and fittings plus new carpets in all other rooms. They also removed and replaced the double glazed front and rear doors and two new windows.
Externally the existing wall render was removed and replaced with water proof, coloured K-render; manholes and gullies were re-built; the yard was re-concrete; the stone boundary wall and two small outbuildings were repaired; lights were installed and the doors and window surrounds were re-painted.
In the detached garage the roof was removed and replaced, the asbestos ceiling was removed and new lighting, power points and an electric garage door were installed.
I have no hesitation in recommending them for similar large or small jobs.
During the course of renovations at my house in Carlisle, Simon and his team were prompt, and efficient at all times. Not only did they complete the works on time (actually 3 days early) but they were on budget. They made frequent progress reports about the works, and consulted me throughout. Simon acted as liaison between trades, ensuring that the work went smoothly and without a hitch, and more importantly as planned. I cannot praise them more highly, and am pleased to reommend them wholeheartedly. I cannot imagine there is anything they can't do.

From the moment Simon came to give us a quote we knew we were in safe hands. We wanted a full house renovation and on a very limited timescale.
We had a full electrical rewire, a new central heating system, plastering, new bathroom, new kitchen, flooring, carpentry and decorating. Simon arranged it all from start to finish taking all of the headache away from us.

The bespoke space they created, fits beautifully. Everything was organised for us from building control to plumber to decorators.
